Photo Contest Results
Thank you to everybody who participated in the Fall/Winter photo contest held by Sunnyside Acres Heritage Society (SAHS) over the past few months. It was our first time hosting this competition and the number of entries that we received exceeded our expectations.
We would also like to offer our gratitude to the photo contest sponsors and everybody else who offered their support in running this competition. These sponsors include Dunia Tozy from Love 2 Media, local artist Arnim Roeske (Instagram @arnimroeske), City of Surrey Parks and Recreation, Staples, London Drugs - Peninsula Village, and London Drugs - Morgan Crossing. The judge of our youth competition was Dunia Tozy from Love 2 Media, and the judge of our adult entries was Lynne Kelman from Crescent Beach Photography Club.
In mid-February, there was a Photo Walk through the forest, which again received a good turnout and positive feedback. Unfortunately, we were unable to host the planned photo contest reception. However, our winners were still able to receive their prizes. The winners for the adult category of the competition are as follows:
1. Warmth Before Winter by Andie Ursaki
Warmth Before Winter
2. Sunnyside by Peter Rhode
3. Light the Way by Jesse Vance
Light the Way
- Honorable Mentions go to First Buds by Carolyn Fountain, Life Carries On by Sandy Panton, and Wood Sculpture by Sussi Tanner
The youth contest results are as follows:
1. Forest Bench by Natalia Phillips
2. Dog Walk by Claudia Phillips
Thank you again to everyone who entered and supported our photo contest! We received a lot of amazing photographs and were delighted to hear about the adventures of both newcomers and regulars in Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest.
Our Instagram and Facebook pages (@sunnysideacresheritagesociety) are updated regularly and our website also contains up-to-date information if you are curious to stay tuned with the local happenings at the urban forest. You can also join our society if you would like to be a part of our email list or learn about volunteering opportunities with SAHS.
